Sunshine, blue skies and my delicate Magnolia Stellata are making me smile today. How are all of you? I'm navigating a slightly tricky transition from having the odd retainer client to just focusing on project work. I am a big fan of a project. I love a deadline and like the freedom of being able to pick and choose when I work.
This quote is taken from the brilliant column published in the Chicago Tribune in June 1997, written by American journalist Mary Schmich. It's a warm and witty piece of writing, packed with sound advice about how to live your best life.
I’ve been feeling a bit shell-shocked all week - how are all of you? The months and months of crazy juggling have clearly taken their toll. I’m ok - just struggling to focus. I went to the supermarket yesterday morning and it felt like a dream... like I wasn’t in my own body, almost trance-like. I think the word is discombobulated.
It’s #nationalgrammarday and #worldbookday, so it seems apt to talk about the copy editing work I do, which is all about the nuances of the English language. I've always been a stickler for punctuation and I love editing other people's writing; sculpting it, making it sing, knocking it into shape. It's a joyfully satisfying thing to do, especially when the topic is interesting (which it always is in the case of @annvi).
The sun is shining, it's March and it's my last week of homeschooling three kids. Hurrah! Am happy, but also a bit sad, worried, emotional..... anyone else with me?
Modern society puts a lot of pressure on us to be perfect. We all have to be amazing at everything. But the reality is we're all human; messy, imperfect humans at that.
I have zero time for Valentine's Day, but I have a lot of time for love. Love is basically everything. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Whilst I’m glad to see the back of you January, you’ve not been so bad. February, I’m ready for you. Be short, as always. And then, it’s hello March, spring, sunshine and (maybe) the end of lockdown. Keeping everything crossed. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This parenting-on-steroids experience, which a lot of us are going through, is intense. Isn't it? Hands up if you're exhausted, fed-up, bored, have zero patience, worried, stressed? It's sapping all the fun out of me. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
